Did he actually blame the city lawyers—who work for him? That is bizarre. He could just drop all the city's appeals. He's the mayor.

Yes, that's how I took it. The first link on the post is to the video. You can watch it and judge for yourself.

You're right! I watched it. How utterly pathetic. I'm outraged by his lies and his lack of preparation. The way he was quizzing the retirees in the audience for information he lacked was shockingly demeaning. And to present the lawyers as an autonomous entity is beyond ridiculous.

These guys, even with evidence to the contrary, all think us retired folk are in the midst of dementia. The solution is simple. Call off your legal dogs and drop the appeal. He claims he cannot control the city's lawyers. Then I guess the Mayor has less power than I thought. Last I heard, lawyers can be fired. Maybe I am wrong and really do have dementia.

It is shocking how stupid they think we are. There are multiple routes to solving this for both Mulgrew and Adams and they both think we are too dense to notice.

@ Marcia Bederman

Wow! Do you expect anything different from Adams?

I expect people to make arguments that make sense, that persuade. I teach speakers of other languages to do that. I could teach Adams and Mulgrew too. In retrospect, I'm glad I didn't. That, plus the fact that neither of them has an argument. And neither expects us to notice.

I wonder how much police overtime they would need to cut to cover that supposed $50 million a month.

There is no 50 million. It's a ridiculous agreement that Unity made and sold to MLC because they hadn't yet persuaded them to buy the Brooklyn Bridge. That's for the next contract.
