Always on point! This is why I am set up for monthly contributions. We must PROTECT our standings as NYC RETIRED EDUCATORS because UFT (Unity) does not.

Thank you Arthur & Marianne. I'm got YOU!

Thanks Mea. It is a disgrace that those who claim to represent us do the opposite. It's further disgraceful that we, on fixed incomes, have to donate what we have to fight people paid by our dues. You can't make this stuff up.

and if we were truly union, mulgrew wouldn't quite specifically pit actives against retirees in order to try to get raises for actives at the expense of retirees.....as a friend of mine used say, and I regularly say, about such things as the kinds of things mulgrew announces as truth because he says so, "you can state that you are the Queen of England. that doesn't actually make you the Queen of England."

Arthur Goldstein's avatar

Wait. I'm NOT the Queen of England? Does this mean I have to cut down on those biscuits after all?

peter cherr's avatar

I'm sorry to have had to let you know that....but you don't have to cut down on those biscuits....phew!....

Arthur Goldstein's avatar

Well, thank you. That's some consolation. I'll just quietly pursue my identity crisis.

well, there clearly are a lot of people at the union sure they ARE the queen of england (or at least part of the royal family) -- and not just our glorious leader who did, it seems, inherit his crown -- and are entitled to ALL the biscuits.

Mayber Mulgrew's at a power breakfast right now, with Very Important Patronage Recipients, scarfing down biscuits paid for with our dues.

....while proclaiming "off with their heads!"

Thank you, Arthur, for writing this. I attended the retirement meeting. I was surprised by one speaker who went on an irrelevant rant about Marianne when discussing 1096. It was unacceptable. We need to ensure that we will never need to consider MA again. Supporting 1096 is the way to go.

Arthur Goldstein's avatar

Thank you Maggie. I could not agree more.

Thank you as always Arthur for telling it like it is. Mr. Casey had to take his tail between his legs after an overwhelming vote to support 1096 following his rant. It was a joy to be present to see that.

Mulgrew also let his head of the welfare fund pontificate and lie about the $15 copays we retirees are facing. Just pay and run he said. NO! Copays are to be charged after we meet our Medicare deductible., not before. A friend suggested the UFT should insist that Emblem put that on our cards to make it clear to doctors.

Every meeting lately we are hearing more and more untruths. Please sign the petition on copays and support the new bill that will be introduced soon to protect our healthcare and do away with the copays.

Thanks Patricia. I think he was suggesting that perhaps the doctor's office would end up eating your co-pay and you could save 35 bucks. Frankly, I doubt anyone in accounts would let that pass. Nonetheless, we'd be far better of passing 1096 or its equivalent, and eliminating co-pays altogether for us and those that follow us.

Ya can't make this shit up!
