Whatever would we do without you, shining the light into the dark forest? Since most of us were shut out of the old "Official" UFT FB page, I became part of the new page that both Bennett and Michael gave a nod to. This is a new combined page for both parties. But this page has a weird vibe. It doesn't feel unified at all. You can tell who's who. I started out as the self-appointed welcome wagon, admiring photos and putting up welcome GIFs. However, I feel much happier on the old Retiree Advocate page, since I want to know things like, how are we going to get rid of Mulgrew, who's running for that position, and how can I help?
Thanks for your kind words. Much like the old Facebook page, the new one won't allow me to promote my work, so I haven't joined. I'm glad the RA page and others are out there. I support and work with the group ABC--A Better Contract, which you can find here:
I share your desire to see Mulgrew gone, and a more democratic union, responsive to member needs. We took a giant step with RA, and we can take another next May. I'm ready.
Have been a UFT Member since the fall of 1964. Remember meeting Albert Shanker. He cared and worked for the people in the schools. He wanted to make teaching a positive experience :with the rewards to go along with it. He got us our first prep period. One a week. At first, no one knew what to do. We realized it was for us to work outside the classroom, however, still be in school. He never cared about himself. He was easy to talk to, and he answered all your questions, and letters, and phone calls. ( No email at this time). Went to one UFT retiree meeting in Florida, where I now live. Tom Murphy let you talk, but made faces and brushed you off.
Is it possible for the new UFT retiree section, have meetings on Zoom. Thank you
Thanks for sharing that story. Nice to hear about an accessible UFT leader. There is a remote capability for RTC meetings. You just have to sign up. I can ask Bennett about enabling video, but they don't do that at any other meetings, so I'm not optimistic.
So basically UFT dies create the stabilization fund that UFT gave to the city to give DoE funds for contract raises, bonuses etc. Is that right? We paid for our raises? If my understanding is correct UNITY MUST BE VOTED OUT.
Thanks for your kind words Alan. Most of the critical comments on yesterday's piece were off-topic, logical fallacy, or more likely both. This is the Unity MO. Late this week I may make a list and address them all. There is simply no excuse for stereotyping a protected group, and we have every right to demand better of our so-called leaders.
Thank you for your truthfulness.
Thanks for your kind comment.

Keep on with the rational truth, Arthur!
Thank you Diane.

MLC did that, with UFT leading the charge.
Thank you for your persistent efforts and resilience in the face of some vile comments! As they say in the Bronx: Illegitimi non carborundum

Once again,,, spot on , Arthur !
