He is desperate. Period.

He is. But his actions mystify me. If he wanted to impress us, he'd change something. I just see same old, same old.

Maybe City Workers and Retirees should hit the streets, etc.

We can't just rely on the legal system which is a casino game.

Maybe. I would show.

600 million dollars a year....I feel like stickers should say, "Do you know the Unity UFT has promised the city 600 million dollars a year in savings?"

I feel like it too. They should also mention the savings are for our contractual adversary, at our expense. A ridiculous deal like that would get you fired from the Dollar Store.

Thank you -and totally agree Arthur. Mulgrew breaks out of his ugly inertia to misinform. Between Marianne's videos, and your pieces, we can step back and try to see how we're getting played.

Thanks Laura. I'm shocked that Mulgrew thinks we are stupid enough to buy his song and dance. I feel like we aren't even getting the dance.

Very likely Arthur- let’s see how it plays out.

Let's. The fact that he tried to frighten those of us who have Medicare, where Anthem is a simple supplement is jarring. I just called Anthem, and verified that this did not affect us at all. Their benefits are applicable to all hospitals Medicare serves.

UFT, MLC, Mayor Adams spin webs of lies and misinformation about both active and retirees healthcare consistently. They lie to us, to each other and to the media. Remember at election time and vote them out. Healthcare is a HUMAN RIGHT! We are not decimal points on a balance sheet. As a retired 2x cancer survivor I want/earned the best of care.

I agree it's a human right. There is much work to do to establish it as such in the United States. For a great explanation of why we're in this mess, consider reading The Sum of Us by Heather McGhee.

If the UFT and the MLC are on the hook to the city for $600 million a year would defeating the Unity caucus in the next UFT election void that “debt?” If the UFT cannot shake off this debt no matter who leads, why not demand that the current leadership declare a jubilee?

Hilarious. There are better ways to save money than at the expense of health care. For example, we could consolidate the welfare funds. NYC Retirees have made various suggestions.

If a Jubillee is in your view hilarious, who then will pay? You reference better ways to save money (save money for the city) than forcing retirees into Medicare disadvantaged. Better for who? I think this the central issue if UFT retirees are to seek a common defense of health benefits with working members. It is the central issue around which a credible opposition to the current UFT may form. If as you say a jubilee is hilarious, then the brass tacks of contractual negotiations is laid bare and all the ad hominem attacks and name calling is best set aside in favor of raising our collective awareness of the possible choices before us. These are choices for members now and they will remain on the table for any future negotiations. As you say jubilee is hilarious , payback not so much.
