Thanks once again for the BRILLIANT commentary. I got my vote in for the Retiree Advocate caucus with lightning speed! We've had a nice week with good news about our healthcare, and I only need 2 more things next month: for the judges to refuse to give the city leave to appeal again and for the Retiree Advocate slate to have a hefty win! I expect you RA guys with massive amounts of experience will not allow yourselves to be marginalized!!
I cannot agree with you more. A Unity patronage retiree who I knew from my camp days (yes that was the only way I could afford camp for my kids and never had a free summer since I was 22 years old) said i was now associating with anti-Israel leftists and Marianne was stealing my donations. This person retired at 55 and 30 years because of cancer now in remission but for the last 15 years was a pension consultant and still is in retirement making an extra 50 grand. I ended up saying something mean to him about his cancer and Medicare Advantage. I am not sorry I said it. I guess his patronage job is more important than his own future health care. I am lucky to be relatively healthy now, but who knows. I am turning 70 in 3 weeks.
I'm not surprised they'd use Israel, or indeed anything, to gun up support for their corrupt and crumbling empire. They have no bottom, and no ethics. I will work to preserve Medicare for you and for me, and I am enormously grateful to Marianne for leading this charge, well before I even knew we needed it.
Hell yeah! Bravo Arthur! I echo Pamela's high praise of your piece and her feelings of joy and hopes for the coming weeks. Let's also not forget to call AAA (800-529-5318) to confirm our ballots got received -because Retiree Advocate MUST WIN! We are union! Unity is NOT!!!
Correction: AAA is 800-529-5218 -My sincere apology for posting the wrong # in my initial comment :( PS: I contacted them, but a AAA Rep explained they couldn't confirm receipt of my ballot because they've gotten "way too many ballots" to sort through. Maybe the huge outcome reflects a good thing -but who knows, right?! Also, while I've had some concerns regarding the possibilities of someone hacking electronic votes, considering all the postal delays we've endured, the mail thefts we've faced, AAA's inability to check the status of our ballots, and Unity's underhanded interference with paper ballot voting, I'm convinced that electronic voting is a better choice. In the meantime, I'm praying hard and keeping my both my fingers and toes crossed with the hope that the Retiree Advocate slate takes our Chapter back!! There's so much healing and protecting to do!!
Arthur hits the nail on its head once again! I noticed that an "Esmiralda Mulgrew" was heading the Golfing outing the UFT is sposoring- I imagine that's Mike's wife- curious how the benefits stay "all in the family" Is she a teacher? A retiree? Or just another "associate" who gets kickbacks?
She was a guidance counselor and naturally had some UFT position. She retirered a year ago and rumors are they bought a house down south and Mulgrew may just pack up his riches and leave, to be replaced by the next Unity hack.

Thanks for your kind words, and I speak for all of us when I say we are not afraid of Unity. Not even a little.

Good points Laura. And thank you!

I wasn't there, I'm afraid. Now I'm gonna have to go look at Nick Bacon's notes, and God bless him for posting them.

Sorry I have no idea.

Maybe they'll build a McMansion next door to Marianne's house.
