Go Arthur.

Thank you for continuing to alert and inform what should be an army of foot soldiers in this nauseating battle.

Keep doing what you’re doing Arthur and don’t let up. Everyone who reads your posts should make a donation each time. I just did.

Yes, donate to nycretirees.org The contract with GHI Senior Care has been changed by NYC to allow $15 copays beginning 1/1/25. There will also be a hearing for the NYC appeal of the class action suit status on copays in Albany on Thursday 10/17.

Copays unfairly charge everyone who needs medical care, often stopping many from getting the treatments they need.

When we were charged copays in 2022, my husband easily had more than 120.

Please continue to donate as this fight is far from over.

Wow. 120 copays. Those jackals will do anything for their pound of flesh, even as Mulgrew and Adams claim they want to help us. I will donate right now.

Thank you Arthur. By making people more aware with each article you post hope stays alive. Yes Donations to the NYC Retiree Organization are needed as you point out so we can continue funding the legal costs of fighting City Hall and the unions betrayal, Do you know anyone who is looking into Garrido as you are about Mulgrew and exposing him as well? Marianne’s plate is so full that and I’m reluctant to add anything more on her plate right now. She is doing a phenomenal job of fighting for us in every arena and her talents, knowledge, and skills are immeasurable… much like yourself. Just seems to me Garrido also needs to be shown the door since he appears to be Mulgrew and Adams silent partner. Thank you again for the truth about co pays hurting retirees.

Thanks Kathy. I'm UFT, so my focus is here. Also, all of this started with Mulgrew. I know Marianne is aware of Garrido, and I know she follows everything closely. I have no doubt she will have things to say on this topic.

They are still determined to claw their way out of the hole of their making on the backs of their retired unionists. No change of heart moment here. Maneuvering once again through the back veiled door at the expense of retirees' lives and livelihoods. But we are awake to the shenanigans now.

Well said, and I could not agree more. What I honestly cannot fathom is why they think we are so stupid. Is anyone as stupid as they think we are?

Hate to say it Arthur, but at this point, I don't think they give a damn. Self interest and self preservation have kicked in and for them, that is paramount.

Expand full comment

Well, here's the thing--they're facing a crucial election in a few short months. Self-interest would dictate doing things to ensure their victory. I'm not seeing it.

Hope you are right and enough actives as well as retirees , see the light of day. Pride cometh before the fall.

Urget care fee has doubled. Emblem Health did not initiate the copay. Our union leaders did. And I thought they were supposed to advocate for US.

Mulgrew has made a bunch of boneheaded deals to create "savings," but savings for the city. Said savings are always at our expense. He and his Unity buds are remarkably inept negotiators.

Could the RTC send a transcript of the Adam’s response to the retirees meeting in Riverdale in which he blamed Mulgrew for the Medicare Advantage fiasco.

Adams also said that the City was losing 50 million dollars a month. In fact, according to the Independent Budget Office the savings will go to the Health Insurance Stabilization Fund not the City.

I'm certain all parties have heard of the Adams appearance. The city isn't losing anything. They're just not getting what Mulgrew promised. Not yet, at least.

I remember this from the beginning. Right after the city tried to sell us on how greatctheir 'special ' Medicare Advantage Plan was, our first rebuttal was that it had co pays, while our current plan didn't. We expected them to respond by improving their MAP and removing the copays. Instead, they ADDED copays to our old Plan (something that had been free for close to 50 years). Then they said "now the plans are even" Yeah, thanks for that.

Again, it seems they take us for fools.

Not sure all RTC members have heard. If possible, the RTC newsletter could include an excerpt.

Expand full comment

Possibly. As of yet I've heard nothing about a newsletter. I'd love to be part of one. We'll see in September.

The RTC has sent out news letters via e-mail.

Clarify, Retiree Advocate has sent!
