ABC's latest flyer states that Amy had been "petitioning to preserve healthcare". Could you please elaborate on that and explain what healthcare she was trying to preserve and the petitioning campaign, because I just don't remember. I'd like a refresher so I can get my colleagues to vote for her. Thanks.

I just read that, and what it actually says is that ABC has been petitioning to protect health care. It says that Amy was inspired by our actions. Several of us have been involved with that, and several of us were responsible for the petition demanding that health care changes go to rank and file. While a version of it was brought by RTC, it was watered down in that health care would go to the Delegate Assembly rather than rank and file.

If you've been reading Union Matters, and NYC Educator before it, you know that I've personally been battling to preserve health care for a long time, and that I've coordinated with NYC Retirees to battle for 1096. I brought a resolution about that, and it was passed overwhelmingly by RTC. Sadly, when I approached RTC Executive Board with a letter we could circulate, they voted to table the matter and took no action whatsoever..

Last time I looked, you were Louise. Why'd you change your name?

Anyway, thank you so much for your thoughtful question.
