When December 23rd falls on a Monday, schools should close. But Unity, totally focused on their patronage gigs, can't be bothered worrying about those of us who work and study.
It seems as though we are also losing our COVID days this year, even as a new variant surges. If you get sick, it comes out of your CAR days now. Thanks, Unity!
I got Covid early this month, and it was no fun at all. Where I live, in Nassau County, our genius legislature passed a law making it illegal to wear masks. Are you sure about this? UFT website still says up to ten days off for Covid, but for the 23-24 school year. I haven't heard anything about this agreement being stopped. It would be a really dumb thing to do, as more people would likely come in sick.
Supposedly principals and school secretaries have been advised that memo 1 for the 2023-2024 year has expired (Covid testing, etc.) and will not be renewed: https://imgur.com/a/dugBxau
I think I mentioned this before. Unity wants to be applauded for attempting to fix mistakes that should not have happened in the first place. A good union should have different committees investigating different issues. In the 1980s, CSE chairpeople used to reward and punish psychologists, social workers, and Ed Evaluations by determining their school clusters. Therefore, the Union developed a better way of determining assignments based on retention and seniority. I was on that committee. We presented it to the DOE, negotiated some changes, and created a fairer system. I guess Unity has forgotten how to do this. I didn’t.
Well, I'm happy to be aligned with you. You know, when you have absolute power for 60 years, you tend to think you deserve it and become complacent. We are seeing that pressure works, even though Mulgrew's position on Advantage is fake. And we can learn something from that, too. Voting works better.
They do it on purpose. They probably made a deal to put it on the calendar and then they become the "heroes" coming r o the rescue. It's just something else they did not really do that they can take credit for.
When it is finally removed, Mulshrink can go on TV and take credit.
Well, I can't read their minds, but that's certainly a possibility. This could've been avoided. There are bigger issues, and they dodge them like the plague.

Wow. That's quite a stupid policy. Covid has been spreading like wildfire lately.

Thanks Kathy.
